TFA: Teach for A While

Teach for A While

I’ve written essays, short stories, and a novel. But I continue to feel compelled to try to find some way to communicate the absurdity of my teaching experience. There’s a board game in development. But before that, there is Teach for A While, a musical with composer Mehmet Salih Yildirim.

Teach for A While

Music by Mehmet Salih Yildirim
Libretto by Emily Roller

Teach for A While is a dark satire about high-stakes testing that follows Ms. Young, a determined new teacher, as she embarks on her first year of teaching. Ms. Young immediately faces unanticipated difficulties at the struggling school and, as a last resort, decides to cheat on her students’ tests.
